Cape Town - South Africa's Erin Gallagher has advanced to the final of the women's 50m freestyle at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on Australia's Gold Coast.

Swimming in her semi-final, Gallagher finished third in a time of 25.03 with Australian sisters Cate (23.88) and Bronte Campbell (24.38) finishing first and second, respectively.
Gallagher qualified fifth fastest overall with the 50m freestyle final scheduled for Saturday, April 7 (11:43 SA time).
Meanwhile, in the women's 50m breaststroke final, Tatjana Schoenmaker broke the African record - which she had set herself - in the heats.
Schoenmaker finished in fourth place, touching the wall in a time of 30.82, missing the bronze medal by 0.04 of a second.
On Saturday, Schoenmaker will feature in the women's 200m breaststroke heat (02:49 SA time) and possibly the final (13:09 SA time).
