Pietermaritzburg - Orlando Pirates midfielder Sifiso Myeni has revealed his disappointment following their 1-1 draw against Maritzburg United on Wednesday.

The Sea Robbers and the Team of Choice shared the spoils in an Absa Premiership encounter played at Harry Gwala Stadium, much to the disappointment of the former Bidvest Wits skipper.

Kermit Erasmus was on target for the Soweto giants, while Deolin Mekoa found the net for the KZN- based side.

Myeni felt United were relaxed at the back and intended to hit the Buccaneers on the counter attack.

“It was really heartbreaking not to win the game,” said Myeni.

“We went there looking to grab all the three points.

“But it wasn’t the case, maybe because Maritzburg were coming at us and also relaxing at the back.

“But we were also going at them and their goal came from our own mistake.

“I think they really wanted to hit us on the counter attack from the first whistle.

“We knew about that and each of my team-mates were busy covering for one another throughout the game.

“All our players gave their all but it was just not our day.”

A draw for Pirates kept them in the third spot on the log while United are still occupying the eighth spot.

Pirates will face Ajax Cape Town at Cape Town Stadium in their last game of the 2014/15 season on Saturday.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
