Cape Town – Kermit Erasmus believes that Oupa Manyisa leads by example since he has been entrusted with captaining Orlando Pirates.

According to Soccer Laduma, Manyisa has since been handed the captains armband since the tragic death of Senzo Meyiwa and Erasmus has backed his teammate despite the maestro not being as vocal as most captains.

“He might not be the most vocal captain, but he leads by example and that's what counts,” said Erasmus.

“He stands out amongst the team. For a player like him, he can definitely lead us. I'm happy with him.”

Erasmus adds that even before he joined the Parktown club he has always been a fan of Manyisa.

"He is one of the best midfielders in the country - even before I came to Pirates, he had always been my favourite player.

“He has worked hard and I feel he has always been underrated for his contributions. He never complains and shouts.”

Pirates will look to avoid a third successive Absa Premiership defeat when they face Mamelodi Sundowns at Orlando Stadium.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday, December 10.
