Cape Town - Josiah Mphono, the agent of Edward Manqele, has confirmed that the striker wants to leave Mamelodi Sundowns.
Manqele spent last season at Moroka Swallows on loan where he netted 8 times for the Dube Birds but failed to get game time at the end of the campaign due to lack of effort claims Swallows coach, Zeca Marques.
This comes after Manqele has said that the difference between Marquez and Pitso Mosimane, is that the Mamelodi Sundowns coach is an honest guy who pulls players aside and let them know what he requires from them and Marques does not.
When returning to the Brazilians, Manqele said he is happy to be back and prepared to fix things after having outbursts in the media about the club.
“I spoke to the coach on my arrival, and said to him that he should give me a second chance,” he said to the Mamelodi Sundowns website.
“I am prepared to give 100% and fight for a place in the coach’s starting line-up. I am prepared to fix things. My team-mates also welcomed me – and I look forward to making amends.”
But now the striker seems to want out of Chloorkop with his agent claiming the 27 year-old won’t get enough game time.
“When Sundowns returned from their camp in Polokwane, we sat down with the team management and we said to them, we have looked at the players that Sundowns have and we saw that he won’t get game time here, so please release him from his contract,” said Mphono to Soccer Laduma.
He added that they kept the story under wraps because they did not want to tarnish Sundowns name but feel now is the right time to let the people know that the former Swallows striker did not go with the team on camp because he wants to leave the club.
Swallows take on Sundowns in the Gauteng Challenge at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on July 19.
