Marquez responds to Manqele

Cape Town - Moroka Swallows coach, Zeca Marques, has come out saying Edward Manqele is trying to divert away from the truth following differences between the two.

Manqele has said that the difference between Marquez and Pitso Mosimane, is that the Mamelodi Sundowns coach is an honest guy who pulls players aside and let them know what he requires from them and Marques does not.

Manqele spent last season on loan at Swallows from the Brazilians and netted 8 times for the club before a goal drought began when the Dube Birds needed him the most.

The Swallows coach is bemused about Manqele’s accusations and claims he has always had an open door policy.

“I think he is trying to divert away from the truth because he knows the reason why he was not playing towards the end of the season. He (Manqele) stopped putting in effort at training and in matches. His work ethic was low and was not playing for the team. In situation like that as a coach, you have to make decisions, and I had to look for other options,” the Swallows coach said to Soccer Laduma.

Moroka Swallows take on Sundowns in the Gauteng Challenge and the Lucas Moripe Stadium will play host for tournament on July 19.
