Cape Town - Orlando Pirates defender Lucky Lekgwathi is still a couple of weeks away from full fitness, as he awaits his first game of the season.

The 38-year-old has yet to feature for the Bucs this season because of persistent fitness problems, but coach Eric Tinkler is hoping to have the veteran available again soon.

"He is still injured," Tinkler said.

"Still injured and he will be out for at least the next couple of weeks. I'm hoping to see him before the end of the season.

"He went for an operation and it will be a couple more weeks before he starts training again.

“You have to understand that he is not a youngster any more so the recovery, it takes time."

Meanwhile Pirates ran out winners against Platinum Stars despite Lehlohonolo Majoro receiving a red card after blatantly stomping on Mahlatsi Makhudubela.

Majoro opened the scoring following an assist from Oupa Manyisa while Lennox Bacela put the nail in the coffin on the stroke of full time.
