Cape Town - AmaZulu head coach Steve Barker has heaped praise on veteran defender Mbulelo ‘Old John’ Mabizela.

Speaking to the clubs official website, Barker admits that he has been impressed with the defenders contribution to the club since arriving at the club.

“I am very impressed with the way Mabizela is contributing to the club. He has already scored three crucial goals and has been involved in some assist as well,” said Barker.

“The way he carries himself during training is amazing because he just inspires the other guys to work hard as well.

“His character and commitment to the club is amazing and it is good to know that he has so much interest for the club and the positive contribution he adds is just amazing.

“For now I am just happy with the commitment he has shown and I know that he is still going to play a positive role in the squad,” said Barker.

AmaZulu are now on a break and the University of Pretoria coach said they need to use the break as an advantage to their mission of climbing out of the relegation zone.

“We just have to look at it in a positive way. We have the opportunity to train and work hard on finishing strong.

“The performance of my team has been good we have fought well and shown good character even in difficult times,” he concluded.
