Boks slip to joint lowest ever ranking

Cape Town - The Springboks have slipped down one spot to seventh on the latest World Rugby rankings.

This follows their disappointing 32-19 loss to Argentina in Mendoza over the weekend.

The defeat saw South Africa drop 1.48 rating points which enabled Scotland to move ahead of them in the pecking order.

It is the Springboks’ joint-lowest position since the rankings were introduced in October 2003, having earlier also been ranked at No 7 in 2017 and earlier this year.

Los Pumas, meanwhile, moved up one position past Fiji to ninth on the rankings.

New Zealand's 40-12 win over Australia in Auckland saw no change to the position of both teams. This is due to the large points differential between the world No 1 All Blacks and the Wallabies, ranked in fifth.
