Cape Town – Former Bayonne fullback, Joe Pietersen has rejoined Western Province on a two-year deal.
WP Rugby made the announcement in a statement on their website.
He will join up with the Stormers squad for pre-season training on December 1.
Pietersen was released from his contract at Bayonne this week, which paved the way for his old province to finalize the deal, which was already understood to be at an advanced stage at the time.
Pietersen played 56 matches for WP before leaving for France and 21 matches for the Stormers, with his last match being the Super 14 final against the Bulls at Orlando Stadium on 29 May 2010.
Pietersen will boost the Stormers’ backline options once more as his versatility allows him to be capable of playing at fullback, wing and at flyhalf.
Province made no secrets about signing the 26-year-old shortly after securing former Bulls flyer Gerhard van den Heever’s services for 2012.
