WATCH | Proteas opener's crazy home training regime

Pieter Malan may be an old-school player on the field, but there is nothing traditional about his home workout regime.

The 30-year-old opener, who made his Test debut against England in January after 13 years of first-class cricket, posted a video to his Instagram account on Monday of him going through a rather unique style of training at home.

Donning his full Cabe Cobras whites and padded up, helmet included, Malan goes through a series of drills in his garden and garage.

With the coronavirus having forced South Africa into lockdown, the country's top sports stars have been forced into finding creative ways to stay fit and many are documenting their sometimes comical workouts on social media.

The Proteas' limited overs tour to Sri Lanka in June, meanwhile, has been postponed while the same fate could await July's tour to the West Indies for two Tests that would represent Malan's next opportunity to represent his country.
