Emirates CWC 2019 themed A380 livery lands in JHB

Cape Town - To celebrate one of the most eagerly awaited sporting events of the year, Emirates’ Cricket World Cup 2019-themed A380 livery landed in Johannesburg in the build-up to the tournament.

The striking World Cup 2019 decal covers a substantial area of 694sqm on the Emirates A380 fuselage and includes player silhouettes, batting and bowling against a backdrop of vibrant shades of purple and pink.

Over the last few months, the aircraft made its way to various 19 destinations served by the A380 including; London Heathrow, Australia Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, and Mumbai.

The airline will also be flying most of the national teams to the event as they get ready to compete for the trophy and title of world champions of the World Cup 2019 in England and Wales.

The tournament will run from May 30 to July 14, 2019, with teams competing from England, South Africa, Pakistan, India, West Indies, Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Emirates directly serves customers in nine countries participating in this year’s World Cup.

Emirates has been a Global Partner of the International Cricket Council (ICC) since 2002 and is a sponsor for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. The event’s match officials are selected from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of ICC Umpires, the Emirates ICC International Panel of Umpires and the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, which also sees Emirates featured on their official kit. Emirates also supports other ICC events, including the ICC men’s and women’s T20 World Cups and the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.

Passengers travelling to the World Cup with Emirates can enjoy hours of entertainment with the airline’s award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, which offers up to 4 000 channels of on-demand audio and visual entertainment.

In South Africa, two of the four daily Emirates flights to Johannesburg are served by the iconic Airbus A380 to cater to the growing demand for the airline’s successful, customer-orientated experience. Emirates also operates two daily flights to Cape Town and a daily flight to Durban using Boeing 777’s.
