  • Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosmane has revealed that he misses having fans in the stadiums.
  • The Brazilians have so far played two games in the bio-bubble as they chase down log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
  • Masandawana are set to face Highlands Park on Friday at Dobsonville Stadium.

"Football will never be the same without supporters," said Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane as he reflected on playing in the restricted biologically safe environment (BSE).

The Brazilians have so far played two games in the BSE, as 32 teams from the Absa Premiership and GladAfrica Championship experience the "new normal" in football following the resumption of the season at the start of August.

The government-approved BSE allows only players, club staff and necessary stadium staff within the BSE as the Premier Soccer League (PSL) seeks to complete the 2019/20 season in one month.

Fans are now left to watch games in the comfort of their homes but Mosimane yearns for supporters to return to the stands.

"Football without supporters... that's not the game" Mosimane said.

"You just feel that silence. Especially when you observe that moment of silence just 30 seconds before and 30 seconds after ... it's so quiet.

"You just feel the void left by the supporters. You miss the supporters. Football will never be the same without supporters.

"We are just adjusting, and we are following the protocols on the rules and regulations that lives matters most but we can't wait to hear [the fans] ... we can't wait to hear the drumbeats. We miss them."

As the Covid-19 numbers continue to rise in South Africa, it remains uncertain when fans will be allowed back in stadiums.

The Brazilians tackle Highlands Park at Dobsonville Stadium on Friday.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
