Reborn and refuelled: Cape Town Spurs doing everything right - 'It's not about money'

The Western Cape has produced some of South Africa's finest footballers, who have gone on to play for the country's biggest clubs, representing Bafana Bafana and forging their path overseas.

Emerging from the vibrant Cape streets, a procession of footballing legends graced stadiums worldwide. Mark Williams, Benni McCarthy, Edries Burton, Quinton Fortune, Gavin Hunt, Nasief Morris and Shaun Bartlett are just some of the well-known footballing names that have echoed through time.

Their journeys from the urban landscape to the hallowed turf symbolise the indomitable spirit and raw talent nurtured in the heart of Cape Town that still exists today and echoes throughout the Mother City, according to Cape Town Spurs chief executive officer, Alexi Efstathiou.
