Cape Town City chairman John Comitis says FIFA should consider increasing the number of substitutes allowed to help deal with potential fitness issues.
The Covid-19 lockdown has confined football players to their homes for over two months, severely limiting their ability to stay fit for when the restrictions are lifted and play resumes.
Comitis reckons it would be prudent to allow clubs bigger match-day squads in order to deal with potential fitness problems post-lockdown.
"I would also urge Fifa to look into the matter of increasing the size of match-day squads," Comitis told IOL.
“When play is ultimately resumed everyone in football will be emerging from lockdown because of Covid-19 and there could be suspect fitness levels.
"In such cases, players’ health could be at risk and it would help if enough provision is made for substitutions.”
