Cape Town - English striker Charlie Austin will not leave QPR cheaply, the club's director of football Les Ferdinand has said.

The Evening Standard reports that interested clubs will have to pay market value for Charlie Austin.

Austin has scored 17 league goals this season for the relegated club but "this club isn't going to be a bargain bucket" warned Ferdinand.

"He is fourth in the list of top scorers and that is in a team which has been relegated. That is a phenomenal strike rate."

The club knows that Austin is on the radar of several Premier League managers but Ferdinand insists that QPR will aim to keep the striker next season.

"Can we keep him? We are going to sit down with Charlie and talk to him. But it will come down to him and his agent to decide what's best for Charlie Austin.

"But I'm not even going to talk about what figure we will ask for from other clubs because we are going to try and keep him."

Austin is fourth in the league's scoring charts behind runaway leader Sergio Aguero, Harry Kane and Diego Costa.
