Cape Town - Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal has explained that striker Tammy Abraham is well aware of what he needs to improve upon in order to earn his place in the starting XI.

Abraham went on loan to the Swans at the start of the season and made an immediate impact by scoring four goals in his first eight games. However, a loss of form and injury problems has resulted in him losing his place to Jordan Ayew.

Carvalhal believes the 20-year-old has room for improvement in his game and is set to give him a starting berth in the FA Cup fourth-round replay against Notts County on Tuesday night.

“I have spoken with him and he knows exactly what he must do to be part of the team and to be a more complete player,” said Carvalhal, according to Wales Online.

“He has a challenge in hand, he will have an opportunity in this game to show he is progressing in the main points I have talked with him and I am curious to see the reaction.

“After the game we will try to correct him and try to progress him, try to bring him to do the things we request. If he does what we want he will be a better player so let’s see what happens. We believe we can progress him as a player.

“He is a player we have expectations of, but he has things he must do better. He is not a complete player. He has targets and he can help us.”
