Johannesburg - World Cup stadiums will be used for sports, music concerts and conferences in the future, the City of Johannesburg said on Thursday.

"The stadiums are not going be white elephants. They are going to be utilised in the future," said mayor Amos Masondo.

"All stadiums are multi-purpose and will be used for concerts, rugby and soccer. They can also be used for conferences. You can have your wedding there. You can have your birthday there," he said.
