Cape Town - Platinum Stars moved off the foot of the table with a 1-0 win over fellow Absa Premiership strugglers Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.
The hosts made the better start and created a good chance on the quarter-hour mark when Wiseman Maluleke drew a fine save out of Dino Visser with a crisp shot.
However, the remainder of the first half proved uneventful, with Rise and Shine enjoying plenty of possession but failing to ask questions of the visiting defence.
Instead it was Stars who opened the scoring two minutes into the second half as Bongi Ntuli caught the home team napping by slotting past George Chigova.
The visitors looked to defend their narrow lead, with Polokwane going on to dominate proceedings, although they couldn't break down a resolute Dikwena, who recorded only their second win of the campaign to move up to 13th place, one point ahead of Bernard Molekwa's men in 14th spot.
