PSL to splurge R1.4m on player awards

Cape Town - The Premier Soccer League (PSL) awards evening will be held on Tuesday, May 29 at the Sandton Convention Centre.

The PSL Footballer of the Season will walk away with R250 000 while the Players' Player of the Season is set to cash in on R200 000.

Siphesihle Ndlovu has a chance to walk away with five awards on the night after an incredible season with Maritzburg United.

Meanwhile, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is expected to be crowned Coach of the Year after guiding the Brazilians to the Absa Premiership title.

The gala will start at 20:00.

Players’ Player of the Season – R200 000

Coach of the Season – R75 000

Goalkeeper of the Season – R50 000

Defender of the Season – R50 000

Midfielder of the Season – R50 000

Young Player of the Season – R50 000

Absa-lutely Awesome Goal of the Season – R50 000

Top Goalscorer of the Season – R25 000

MTN8 Last Man Standing – R80 000

Telkom Knockout Player of the Tournament – R200 000 

Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament – R50 000

Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament R150 000

National First Division Top Goalscorer of the Season – R50 000

Match officials: Referee of the Season – R50 000

Match officials: Assistant Referee of the Season – R40 000

Total: R1 420 000
