According to KickOff, club spokesman Vina Maphosa has disclosed that Mphela is committed to earning a place in Stuart Baxter’s starting XI.

“He has been working hard in training and he will get his chance,” said Maphosa.

“A player of his calibre will always command respect in any team because there is a lot that the young players can learn from him.”

Mphela has fallen down the pecking order as Kingston Nkhatha and Siphelele Mthembu seems to be Baxter’s preferred strike force - even with Bernard Parker sidelined through injury.

“It is going to be a long season so everyone is important. Mphela is hungry to do well and is fighting for his place,” concludes Maphosa.

Mphela has only featured for The Glamour Boys once in the Carling Black Label Cup which they were unable to return following a 1-0 defeat to Orlando Pirates.

Meanwhile, Killer will hope to make somewhat of an appearance when they face Platinum Stars on Sunday, August 24 in the 2nd leg of the MTN8 semi-final.

Amakhosi has a comfortable lead of 2-0 against Dikwena on aggregate.

Match is scheduled to kick-off at 15:00.
