The Soweto giants were left reeling last week when Stuart Baxter revealed he would part ways with the club.
It was a decision that seemingly came out of the blue, especially as Baxter had steered Chiefs to a league and cup double before announcing his departure.
The club are still receiving applications for the vacant post, and according to reports, Krol is among the names being mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Baxter.
However, he faces stiff competition from his former teammate, Brandts, who was sacked by Eredivisie outfit Dordrecht back in February.
While the two aforementioned coaches have plied their trade in several different countries, Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung recently admitted he would have liked to have given the job to Maritzburg United boss Steve Komphela.
Motuang revealed, though, that such a move would be difficult due to Komphela's contract with his current employers.
