Amakhosi will be fresh off their MTN8 triumph over old foes, Orlando Pirates, courtesy of a Tefu Mashamaite goal and now they will undoubtedly look to continue their unbeaten run in the PSL.

Chiefs racked up a sixth successive win when they defeated University of Pretoria 2-1 at home in their last league outing.

Stuart Baxter’s charges also claimed home wins over Bloemfontein Celtic and SuperSport United already this season.

Their next three league opponents are Ajax Cape Town (away), Moroka Swallows (home) and Orlando Pirates (away).

The Glamour occupy first place in the Absa Premiership standings with 18 points from six matches.

Maritzburg played to a second successive draw when they were held 0-0 at home by Black Aces in their last outing.

The KwaZulu-Natal team has claimed just two points from a possible nine in away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Platinum Stars (home), SuperSport United (away) and University of Pretoria (home).

Steve Komphela’s side are placed sixth in the PSL with nine points from six matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Maritzburg have met in 16 league matches since 2005/06.

The Amakhosi have six wins, the Team of Choice four and six matches have been drawn.

Chiefs have won four of their eight home matches against United, suffering two defeats in the process.

Last season the Amakhosi took four points from the teams’ two league matches, winning 2-0 at home and drawing 0-0 away.

Kick-off is at 20:15 on Saturday, September 27.
