De Bruyne interest confirmed

Cape Town - Wolfsburg star Kevin De Bruyne has confirmed that Manchester City have made “informal contact” regarding a summer move.

Former Chelsea midfielder Kevin De Bruyne could be heading back to England, reports Sky Sports.

The Belgium midfielder was named the Bundesliga player of the year by an online poll after a stellar season with the German Cup winners.

Chelsea let De Bruyne leave in January 2014 for £18 million and the talented midfielder has gone on to prove his quality in the Bundesliga.

De Bruyne attempt to play down the contact saying: "“We say to everybody - if they want to do something they have to go to Wolfsburg, not to me,” .

Any move for the Wolfsburg star will see the German club earn a huge transfer fee, as much as double the £18m the Blues received, as the player has four years left on his current deal.

A guarantee of first team football may be on De Bruyne's potential list of demands after failing to secure football during his stay at Stamford Bridge.

“My time at Chelsea wasn’t bad. Everybody talks about it and that it was really bad but I just decided I didn’t want to stay at the club under those circumstances, I just wanted to play football and that’s what I did.”

De Bruyne missed just one game for Wolfsburg this season, he scored 16 goals and made 27 assists.
