Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Wayne Sandilands, will be handed the captain’s armband when Bafana Bafana go into battle in this year’s Cosafa Cup, according to the Soccer-Laduma website.

This after Bafana Bafana coach, Gordon Igesund called up nine new faces to his travelling squad for the Cosafa Senior Challenge in Zambia.

The 29-year-old shot-stopper was called up to Igesund’s original squad for the tournament, although Bloemfontein Celtic defender, Thabo Nthethe, was named as skipper.

The changes were necessitated as clubs withdrew players as the tournament does not fall on a FIFA sanctioned date.
