Thanks for tuning in!

The Chiefs picked up a full-house of five points for their victory, but stayed second in the New Zealand Conference and fourth in the Overall standings.

The Bulls left empty-handed, but stayed top of the South African Conference and third in the Overall log

In next weekend's Round 16 action, the Chiefs travel to Invercargill to face the Highlanders (Saturday, May 30 at 09:35), while the Bulls head for Canberra to tackle the Brumbies (Friday, May 29 at 11:40).

22 May 11:26

A dominant display from the Chiefs, who simply ran the Bulls ragged after trailing 15-3 early in the game.

The Bulls will rue not going for posts towards the end there which would have put them within six points with about three minutes left...

Chiefs 5

Bulls 18

  • 80'

McKenzie misses the conversion and that's that in Rotorua as the Chiefs run out 34-20 winners against the Bulls. Next up we have coverage of the Reds versus Sharks game from Brisbane.

  • 79'

TRY, CHIEFS, NANAI-WILLIAMS. 34-20. It's the Chiefs who finish with the flourish, with the replacement finishing off a lovely score. The hosts will be pleased with this second-half.

  • 78'

From the poor to the brilliant as Ngatai finds room in behind the Bulls defence, with his kick rolling into touch just a metre out.

  • 77'

Shocker from Jaco Visagie as from another promising line-out the throw is overcooked. The Chiefs clear through McKenzie.

  • 75'

Pollard misses a vital kick from wide out. The gap is nine.

  • 73'

TRY, BULLS, LABUSCHAGNE. 29-20. Now it''s the Bulls in possession in a good area, with Pollard again kicking into the corner. Can they put on a big finish? They can via the maul.

  • 71'

Filipo comes off after an impressive performance, with Brian Alainu?uese on for his debut. Chiefs ball about 30 metres out.

  • 69'

YELLOW CARD, CHIEFS, CANE. A team offence here as the flank goes off, with Pollard kicking to within five of the try-line.

  • 68'

Pulu boxes to Basson before Potgieter boots it down to fly-half McKenzie. He replies to Pollard who opts to run over halfway.

  • 66'

Nightmare stuff for Matfield and the Bulls as they fumble at the back of a line-out move. Chiefs scrum coming up on their five-metre line. Werner Kruger and Tim Nanai-Williams are now on for the Bulls and Chiefs respectively by the way, replacing Van der Merwe and Gear for the closing stages.

  • 63'

Andrew Horrell comes on for Marshall and his team has some defending to do right now, with the Bulls only five metres out.

  • 62'

It has opened up now as the Chiefs throw the ball around with confidence. The Bulls are happy to boot the ball back into the home side's half but one expects the Chiefs will soon be back.

  • 58'

CONVERSION, CHIEFS, MCKENZIE. 29-15. The extra two points to go with a bonus-point try. What a thrilling passage.

  • 57'

TRY, CHIEFS, PULU. 27-15. Burger Odendaal has replaced Serfontein by the way but the Bulls are in real trouble now. A run from McKenzie led to Pulu getting over soon after. Wow.

  • 55'

CONVERSION, CHIEFS, MCKENZIE. 22-15. Two more points.

  • 54'

TRY, CHIEFS, PULU. 20-15. He's so dangerous in this kind of area. The dynamism of the scrum-half sees him power over.

  • 52'

The Bulls pull down a Chiefs maul 20 out from their own line and surprisingly Messam opts for a scrum, instead of kicking to the corner for another go at it. Something up his sleeve?

  • 50'

It's been a battle for territory early in the half, but two changes to mention on the Bulls side as Arno Botha and Dean Greyling come on for Trevor Nyakane and Flip van der Merwe. Bulls ball 45 metres from the home line until Bardoul wins a ruck penalty.

  • 46'

Excellent work from Stegmann at the breakdown but the Bulls don't have it long, as now the Chiefs recover the ball. Here is Gear on halfway before Hika Elliot backs himself with a run.

  • 43'

The Bulls join a maul incorrectly which hands McKenzie a shot from distance. He lines it up but is wide with that penalty kick.

  • 41'

Welcome back as the Chiefs kick-off deep before the Bulls clear, but only to their 22. Chiefs line-out in a good position.

  • 40'

    Half-time: Chiefs 15-15 Bulls

  • 38'

The Chiefs almost end the half with a flourish when McKenzie dances down the touchline fifteen metres out. However, he just touches the chalk so the Bulls clear from the resulting line-out.

  • 36'

A stoppage here because prop Marcel van der Merwe receives treatment on his shoulder. We can take a breath too after a frantic first 36 minutes of this game. 15-15 is a fair reflection.

  • 34'

An escape for the Chiefs now as under real pressure just five metres from their own line, Messam's good work leads to the Bulls sealing off at ruck time. McKenzie clears thanks to that.

  • 32'

So we're all tied up in Rotorua as Pulu boxes up to the Bulls ten-metre line. They subsequently get it back and now it is Rudy Paige kicking high before Pulu backs himself on a run.

  • 29'

McKenzie misses the conversion. That wasn't even close.

  • 27'

TRY, CHIEFS, HEEM. 15-15. Suddenly it's end to end rugby with the Chiefs the team finally winning the battle, setting up camp in the Bulls 22. Crazy stuff as finally Heem finishes off.

  • 24'

CONVERSION, CHIEFS, MCKENZIE. 10-15. Decent strike.

  • 22'

TRY, CHIEFS, MESSAM. 8-15. A huge score for the hosts as Liam Messam sneaks over from a short pick and go. Game on.

  • 20'

Tom Marshall has come offside at ruck time so here's Pollard again from wide on the left. No good, from the same angle he missed earlier. Marshall and the Chiefs breathe a sigh of relief.

  • 18'

It gets worse for the Chiefs here as now McKenzie's kick rolls dead so play comes back into the hosts' half for a Bulls scrum.

  • 16'

PENALTY, BULLS, POLLARD. 3-15. A twelve-point lead now.

  • 14'

CONVERSION, BULLS, POLLARD. 3-12. He makes this one.

  • 13'

TRY, BULLS, BASSON. 3-10. It's all the Bulls here as they enjoy plenty of ball in the 22. The kick comes across and Heem has batted the ball into Basson's grasp. That is a nightmare for both Chiefs wings in the last few minutes.

  • 10'

    Pollard misses the attempted conversion.

  • 9'

TRY, BULLS, SERFONTEIN. 3-5. Mistake from McKenzie as he loses the ball in a heavy tackle before Bjorn Basson hacks downfield for a footrace Gear should win. However, he misses it and Jan Serfontein is there to pounce on it, just dotting down.

  • 8'

Concern for the Chiefs as Bardoul is down with a knee injury. This would be a significant blow to already badly hit second-row stocks. Meanwhile, Jesse Kriel limps off and is replaced by Jacques-Louis Potgieter. Worries for both sides early on.

  • 6'

PENALTY, CHIEFS, MCKENZIE. 3-0. So close for Augustine Pulu as his dart and reach for the line is adjudged to have been just short of the line by the television match official. We come back for the penalty so here is Damian McKenzie from in front.

  • 4'

Here come the Chiefs in a sustained passage which results in them getting to within five metres of the whitewash. There's a penalty advantage being played as the hosts look strong here.

  • 2'

Brilliant clearing kick from Charlie Ngatai to cap a passage that saw the Chiefs initially try their hand. Bulls line-out in their 22.

  • 1'

Here we go then with Handre Pollard getting us going. The Bulls regather and are in possession on the home side's 22.

  • 0'

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Chiefs and Bulls clash from Rotorua. The Chiefs sit second in the New Zealand conference and with the Hurricanes streaking clear it looks like their best finish is fourth place. The Bulls, while sitting behind the Chiefs on points, are in third spot due to leading the South African conference. Team news is coming up before kick-off.

  • 0'

Mitchell Graham, Johan Bardoul and Augustine Pulu start for the Chiefs. Hosea Gear and Bryce Heem remain on the wings.

  • 0'

Bulls boss Frans Ludeke has handed hooker Callie Visagie his first start of the season. Ludeke also made two changes in his back-row, as Jacques du Plessis and Deon Stegmann start in place of the benched Arno Botha and Lappies Labuschagne.
