Nadal set to play in Davis Cup Finals, 2020 Olympics

Cape Town - Rafael Nadal has revealed that he hoping to take part in the new-look Davis Cup Finals as well as the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The world No 2 was also quick to point out that it's too far away to predict what will happen, however.

Madrid will host the revamped Davis Cup Finals in November this year, but some of the world's top players are unlikely to feature with Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev revealing they won't be available for selection.

However, 17-time Grand Slam winner Nadal will buck that trend as he is eager to play in the Finals.

"I would like to be there, but there are still a lot of months to go, seven or eight months, almost nine," the Spaniard said.

"It's very difficult to predict what is going on in nine months, but my hope is to be there."

The 2020 season will also be a big one in the world of tennis as it is an Olympic year and Nadal, who won singles gold at the 2008 Beijing Games and doubles gold at Rio 2016, is hopeful of representing his country in Tokyo.

"You are talking about more than a year and a half away. I don't know what is going to happen but, as I already said, my hope is to be there," he said.

"I know Tokyo’s going to be spectacular so I will do my best to be there."
