Potchefstroom - Jomo Sono says that nothing is more significant than getting all the three points at this stage of the season regardless of how you strive to get them.

Jomo Cosmos kept their Absa Premiership survival hopes alive after defeating the University of Pretoria 1-0 in a bottom of the table clash at Olen Park Stadium thanks to a well taken strike by Charlton Mashumba.

Cosmos have since moved to 14th position on the log, leaving the Students in the 15th place with only three games remaining before the 2015/16 season ends.

Sono has admitted that it would be difficult to trail against his Cosmos side as his charges will go all out of their way to park the 'bus' in order to prevent their opponents from breaking the deadlock.

“My players started defending on their own, I never instructed them to do so,” said Sono.

“But I know for a fact that it’s difficult to come back against Cosmos when we are leading 1-0.

“Because we had to park the bus in the second half hoping to catch them in the counter attack but it didn’t work.

“But at the end of the day we got all the three points and who cares?

“You don’t get points for playing well but you get points by winning games and that’s exactly what we did.

“We only wanted three points out of the Tuks game and we got them.”

Cosmos will face a wounded Ajax Cape Town in their next league assignment at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday.

The Urban Warriors are coming off a 5-0 thumping courtesy of Bloemfontein Celtic and the former Bafana Bafana mentor said that their main goal is to add on Ajax miseries and get a 1-0 victory.

“Yes we are already thinking about the Ajax game,” Sono insisted.

“And if we pick three points against Ajax we’ll be out of the danger zone and we’ll leave the other two teams (Maritzburg United and Tuks) to sort themselves out.

“Yes, they (Ajax) lost 5-0 to Celtic but hopefully we’ll beat them 1-0,” he laughed.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
