Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs are confident of winning their appeal to the two-window transfer ban FIFA imposed on them over the signing of Ardriamirado "Dax" Andrianarimanana.

Amakhosi were found guilty of signing the Madagascar international illegally from Fosa Juniors last season after they believed he was a free agent.

Fosa, though, insisted the forward was still contracted to them for another two years and took the matter to the global body, who ruled in their favour.

Meanwhile, Dax joined Black Leopards and has subsequently been banned from playing for four months and slapped with a fine in the region of R650 000.

Chiefs’ communication manager Vina Maphosa then confirmed they will appeal the matter and remain confident of getting a ruling in their favour.

"We will appeal, but we won't tell you when. We are confirming that we are going to appeal. That means within the stipulated time," Maphosa told the media.

"Let us be clear on that. We are appealing the case. The case has got nothing to do with our planning for matches. When you appeal, you appeal because you know you will win the appeal. You don't just appeal. But I can’t discuss the case, sorry. I can't. Not at all. No comments there.

"It is a process. In a process, anything can happen. We couldn't have anticipated the outcome of any sort. I don't want to get into whether we were surprised or not. Processes produce any results. We are not in a matter of surprises.

Chiefs are nine points clear at the top of the Absa Premiership standings and are on course to win their first title in five years.

They are also in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16, and Maphosa insisted the Dax controversy will not derail what could turn out to be a memorable campaign.

"It is not going to affect us on the field of play and towards our ambitions," Maphosa insisted.
