By beating Hong Kong 3-0 in a Group C clash at the Asian Cup on Tuesday, Palestine won their first-ever match in the competition.

Victory was also enough to ensure they move into the round of 16 knockouts as they advance as one of the best placed teams that finished third in their group.

Group C was topped by Iran, with the United Arab Emirates in second.

Oday Dabbagh was the hero for Palestine in their clash against Hong Kong as he scored twice, first when he headed home a cross from skipper Musab Al-Battat in the 12th minute and again in the 60th minute when he tapped home from close range after Tamer Seyam's effort came off the bar.

Zeid Qunbar scored Palestine's other goal.

Their opponents in the next round have yet to be confirmed.
