When Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus named the group of 43 players that would attend his first alignment camp of 2024 in Cape Town earlier this month, one of the omissions that sparked the most attention was Hacjivah Dayimani.
Playing what many consider to be the rugby of his life, the 26-year-old loose forward has been a standout figure for the Stormers this season, particularly with ball in hand where his stepping, speed and skill have provided numerous doses of entertainment for the Cape Town faithful.
That is perhaps best evidenced by the fact that Dayimani has beaten more defenders (25) than any other forward in the entire United Rugby Championship (URC) this season.
