Cape Town - Chad le Clos has failed to defend his FINA Swimming World Cup title as Russia's Vladimir Morozov was confirmed as the overall winner this year.
Morozov, who was the runner-up last year behind Le Clos, won his second overall title after winning in 2016 - and pocketed a cool $150 000 for his efforts.
Meanwhile, Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom was confirmed as the overall women winner, winning her second consecutive title.
Morozov finished the 2018 circuit on a high, adding an extra four golds to his already impressive tally. He won the 50/100m freestyle (20.48, 44.95 World Cup record), the 50m fly (22.17) and the 100m IM (50.31) in Singapore's final leg.
Behind him in the overall ranking was fellow Russian Kirill Prigoda, while Australia's Mitch Larkin took the third position.
Le Clos did not finish in the Top 8 of the men's swimming World Cup standings.
However, Le Clos did manage to bank $5 000 (R70 082) for his sixth-place finish in the second cluster of events, which took place in Eindhoven and Budapest.
Le Clos made history last year when he became the first man to win four World Cup Series titles - winning in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2017.
The FINA Swimming World Cup 2019 campaign will kick-off in August next year in Tokyo, Japan.
