Double joy for Tatjana Schoenmaker

accreditation

Cape Town - Swimming sensation Tatjana Schoenmaker was able to share in her celebrations after a superb 2019 season by handing over R100 000 to charity organisation Precious Blessings at a ceremony in Pretoria on Thursday.

Late last year, Schoenmaker was named Sports Star of the Year and Sportswoman of the Year at the SA Sports Awards after she secured double gold at the World Student Games in Naples and stormed to a historic silver medal in the 200m breaststroke final at the FINA World Championships in Gwangju.

As an incentive for the Sports Star of the Year award, Schoenmaker received a new Volkswagen Polo from Sport and Recreation SA and she was also given the opportunity to choose a charity of her choice to receive a R100 000 donation.

After receiving her car, Schoenmaker also played a role in the cheque handover to Precious Blessings, an organisation which looks after abandoned and abused babies who are in need of care.
