South African mountain bike rider Greg Minnaar finished second in the Andorra leg of the 2023 UCI MTB championship.

Minnaar, a four-time MTB champion, made the most of his chances in the Vallnord region to register one of his stronger results this year.

The Santa Cruz Syndicate rider, competing in the Men's Elite Downhill category, qualified 13th, six seconds down on Loic Bruni's 2:46.720. However, the South African turned it around in the race, missing out on the top spot by mere fractions, crossing the finish line in 2:46.576 – just 0.121sec behind winner Thibaut Daprela.

Minnaar's achievement is more impressive because he is showing grit and spirit at the ripe age of 41.

Throughout his career, Minnaar has racked up 22 victories.
