Stomach issues and a lack of sleep didn't deter South African cyclist Matthew Beers from pushing through to defend and claim his third Cape Epic title on Sunday.

The 30-year-old Beers became the first South African to three Cape Epic titles.

"It feels so good, I'm delighted. Every year I get older, I get more used to how tired I feel. I kind of struggle to let these things sink in," said Beers, who resides in Cape Town, told News24 on Monday.
