Long jump bronze medallist Jovan van Vuuren is the flag bearer for Team SA at tonight's closing ceremony.

Closing ceremony starts at 21:00 SA time.

This effectively ends South Africa's campaign at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Team South Africa has brought home 27 medals - seven gold, nine silver and 11 bronze medals. It's South Africa's second-worst performance at the Commonwealth since 1994 - 10 fewer medals than the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

As of now, South Africa is ninth in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games medal tally.

England takes bronze at the Commonwealth Games after beating South Africa 6-3 in the men's hockey match.

Matthew Guise-Brown, Mustapha Cassiem and Nqobile Ntuli scored for SA, but could not stop the home side from sealing a podium position.

A disappointing result for South Africa, but still a good showing at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham as they finish 4th.

South Africa finished fifth in the women's 4x400m relay final at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Sunday.

South Africa's team consisted of Miranda Coetzee, Taylon Bieldt, Shirley Nekhubui, Zeney van der Walt as they crossed the finish line in 3:30.25.

It was a close race with England taking gold (3:25.83), Canada took silver (3:25.84) and Jamaica bronze (3:26.93).

South Africa's Dominique Scott-Efurd finished fifth in the women's 5 000m final on Sunday at the Commonwealth Games.

Scott-Efurd crossed the finish line in 15:07.50 as Kenya's Beatrice Chebet ran a season best of 14:38.21 to take gold, Scot Ellish McColgan took silver (14:42.14) and Selah Busienei bronze (14:48.24).

SILVER FOR DARYL IMPEY 

South African cyclist Daryl Impey has finished second and taken the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games men's cycling road race.

Mornay van Niekerk finished in 12th after he was in the leading group for most of the race.

Women's Cycling road race

An excellent effort from Ashleigh Moolman Pasio and Hayley Preen as they finish 11th and 12th.

The South African pair were right in the mix all the way through the race, which ended in a bunch sprint finish with Georgia Baker (Australia) taking gold in 2:44:46.

The other South African rider in the field, Kerry Jonker, ended in 39th position.
