Gerda Steyn, the golden woman of South African road running, will use the Absa Run Your City (RYC) series of 10km races as preparation for the Olympic Games.

The first of five 10km races kicks off in Gqeberha on Sunday, with the RYC series set to continue in Cape Town (12 May), Durban (7 July), Tshwane (25 August) and Johannesburg (24 September).

The Absa RYC series boasts an impressive, combined prize purse of R1.56 million in 2024. Each of the five events will feature a total prize purse of R312 000.
