The fastest man in South Africa, Akani Simbine, responds with a loaded laugh to the question of what it would mean to finally medal on the grandest stage in sport. 

It's a laugh tinged with sadness, probably in remembrance of some of his disappointments in the finals of major events. 

But it is also filled with excitement. The tone of the 30-year-old is almost giddy when he finally responds, sounding like a child given a chance to step into the world of his dreams.
