South African star golfer Louis Oosthuizen's sixth runner-up major finish, achieved at the US Open to Jon Rahm at Torrey Pines over the weekend, put him alongside compatriots Ernie Els and Gary Player on the most second-place finishes of all time.

Rahm, the 26-year-old Spaniard, won the 121st US Open by beating Oosthuizen by one stroke after a sensational birdie putt from just nearly 25 feet at the par-4 17th, before making his fourth birdie of the week at the par-5 18th.
All three great South African golfers have been bridesmaids six times, but, amazingly, they are nowhere near the greatest runner-up of all time, Jack Nicklaus, who signed off for 19 second-place finishes in his career.
Nicklaus, of course, also holds the honour of winning the most major victories in history with 18.
The oldest ever major winner, Phil Mickelson, is, ironically, second on this list with 11 runner-up finishes, while Tiger Woods also makes the cut with seven.
"I didn't win it. I'm second again," Oosthuizen said following his latest near-miss. "It's frustrating. It's disappointing.
"I'm playing good golf but winning a major championship is not just going to happen. I played good today, but I didn't play good enough."
