Rocks v Lions - ABANDONED

The Rocks and Knights are through to the Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 Challenge semi-finals despite the results in the final round-robin matches.

The Knights lost their encounter against the North West Dragons, while the Rocks and Lions' match was abandoned without a ball bowled. The Lions needed a bonus point win against the Rocks to go above the Knights and secure a spot in the semis.

Earlier, the Dragons claimed a 22-run win against the Knights. The latter opted to field first as the Dragons skipper, Heino Kuhn steadied a 50 off 47 balls. Dragons’ duo, Duan Jansen (39 off 15) and Delano Potgieter (18*) shared a 53-run partnership to help the Dragons set the target on 155.

Gerald Coetzee (2/24 in four overs) claimed the crucial wickets of both Kuhn and Jansen.

Another destructive duo in the Dragons set up was bowler of the match Caleb Seleka (3/13) and Renaldo Meyer (3/26) in their four overs.

The Knights were bowled out for 132 in less than 17 overs, with Migael Pretorius smashing a 36 off 15 in the final overs. Other contributions in the double digits were from Pite van Biljon (27) and Jacques Snyman (25).

Titans beat Knights by 41 runs - SCORECARD

Dewald Brevis has smashed an unbelievable century for the Titans in their CSA T20 domestic clash against the Knights in Potchefstroom on Monday.

In doing so, the talented youngster broke several domestic records.

Opening the batting, Brevis went to his 100 off just 35 balls, merely two balls off the record for the fastest-ever domestic T20 century, which is still held by Wihan Lubbe for North West against Limpopo in 2018.

His 162 off 56 balls, which included 13 fours and 13 sixes, is also the highest-ever individual T20 score, beating the previous record of 126 held by Quinton de Kock.

Brevis's ton was also the fifth-fastest T20 century of all time and the third-highest score in the shortest form of the game.

After going to his 50 off just 18 balls, Brevis showed no signs of slowing up as he attacked whichever bowler the Knights tried against him.

After hitting eight fours and eight sixes, his century was brought up with a single down the ground to long on, which sent his Titans teammates into whoops of jubilation.

There was no slowing down for the 19-year-old as he continued to pummel the bowling to all corners of Senwes Park.

Although Brevis's innings was mesmerizing, there were significant contributions from Jiveshan Pillay (52 off 45 balls, 4x4, 1x6) and Donavon Ferreira (33 off 15, 4x4, 2x6) as the Titans ended on 271 for 3, breaking another record in setting the highest ever T20 domestic score.

In reply, the Knights tried their best to keep to the necessary tempo but lost regular wickets in doing so.

Gihan Cloete top-scored with 51, while Gerald Coetzee smashed 37 in just 11 balls.

Brevis couldn't be kept out of the game as he took an incredible catch in the deep and picked up 1/36, although he did take some tap from Coetzee.

The Knights ended on 230 for 9 to give the Titans a 41-run win.

The match did break another world record for the most aggregate runs scored (501) in a T20 game.

Scores in brief:

Titans: 271/3 (Brevis 162, Pillay 52)

Knights: 230/9 (Cloete 51, Coetzee 37)

Rocks beat North West Dragons by 5 wickets - SCORECARD

Rocks secured their spot after a comfortable five-wicket victory against the North West Dragons on Saturday afternoon.

JP Duminy’s men were chasing 151 runs as Clyde Fortuin powered to 57 off 29 balls to set his side up for a comfortable chase.

Rain stopped play after the seventh over of the Rocks innings and the match was reduced to 17 overs via Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. The Rocks were 68/1 when umpired called the players off the field and to make up for the time lost, the revised target saw them chasing 131 runs. Fortuin and Janneman Malan (34) continued to an 82-run partnership which made it easier for everyone to chip in and reach the target with eleven balls to spare.

North West Dragons were put to the bat first as a steady 68-run partnership between Heino Kuhn (58 off 44) and Lesego Senokwane (46 off 43) helped the Dragons set a competitive total. The Dragons were 150/5 at the end of their 20 overs.

Dolphins beat WP by 7 wickets - SCORECARD

Daryn Dupavillon, was the top order destroyer, seeing off openers, Gavin Kaplan for one and Daniel Smith with two runs to return best figures of 2/5 in three overs.

An easy chase for the Dolphins who reached the target in less than 10 overs at a loss of three wickets.

Grant Roelofsen (29*) and Khaya Zondo (17*) saw the innings off to secure a seven-wicket bonus-point victory for the Durban-based side.

Warriors v Titans - Titans won by 2 wickets: SCOREBOARD

Proteas spinner Aaron Phangiso took 4/23 as the Titans took down the Warriors by 2 wickets at Senwes Park on Friday.

After opting to bat first, Warriors stumbled with the bat, posting a total of only 119 runs. Notable contributions were in the 20s from Jordan Hermann (27), Matthew Breetzke (26), and Lesiba Ngoepe (20) to finish the innings on 119/7.

Simon Harmer (2/12) was economical in his four overs with the dismissals of Wihan Lubbe for six and Diego Rosier with fourteen runs.

Phangiso registered best figures of 4/23 after dismissing Ngoepe, Hermann, Sinethemba Qeshile with just three runs and Glenton Stuurman for none.

The Titans’ batting line-up also struggled to make any runs after a top order collapse, with captain, Sibonelo Makhanya, contributing 21 runs.

But it was the unbeaten 43-run partnership for the nineth-wicket between Dayyaan Galiem (29*) and Junior Dala (14*) that ensured the Titans take home yet another victory.

Warriors bowlers tried to quell the run-rate but it was just not enough runs on the board to defend. Tshepo Ndwandwa, Glenton Stuurman, Akhona Mnyaka, and Ziyaad Abrahams all claiming two wickets each.

Dolphins v Knights - No result

Rain once again had the final say on Friday as the Dolphins and the Knights shared the points in their CSA T20 Challenge match at the JB Marks Oval.

The Dolphins won the toss and decided to bowl first in a clash that would see the winner join the Titans in the semi-final.

It was a solid start from the Knights, who got to 43 for the first wicket before the Dolphins picked up their first scalp.

Ottniel Baartman was on the mark with a direct hit run out in the sixth over of the Knights innings as the Bloemfontein side finished the powerplay on 47 for one with Gihahn Cloete back in the hut for 16.

Baartman then produced a good delivery to catch the edge of Jacques Snyman’s bat before Grant Roelofsen took a fantastic catch, one-handed to his right to dismiss Snyman for a threatening 32 off 17 balls.

After ten overs, the Knights were 59/3, with Jon-Jon Smuts picking up the wicket of Aubrey Swanepoel in the tenth over. Prenelan Subrayen then got his first the next over when he bowled Patrick Kruger for six.

The Dolphins then got on top of the Knights with the ball as they lost another wicket just six runs later when Raynard van Tonder was caught by Keegan Petersen, given Smuts a second wicket.

Pite van Biljon fell with the score on 91 when he was caught by Roelofsen off Subrayen for seven as the Knights lost four wickets for just two runs. After Van Biljon, Migael Pretorius was run out by Petersen for one, Orapeleng Motlhoaring was bowled by Eathan Bosch for 13 and then Mbongiseni Mhlanga was bowled by Daryn Dupavillon for a single.

At this stage the Knights were struggling on 93/9 in the 17th over of the innings. With the Knights on 100/9 in the 18th over, the rain came down and the players couldn't get back on the field, meaning the sides had to share the points.

The Dolphins play Western Province on Saturday with a win guaranteeing them a spot in the semi-final
