DOLPHINS V WESTERN PROVINCE - Dolphins won by 65 runs

The Dolphins booked their spot in the semi-finals with a crushing win over Western Province at St George's Park.

The Durbanites went into the contest knowing they had to win to reach the playoffs, while WP had already qualified.

Khaya Zondo's brilliant 59 not out from 51 balls took the Dolphins to a competitive 148/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

In their response, the men from the Cape were lacklustre as they lost wickets at regular intervals.

Bryce Parsons, who also scored a vital 28 with the bat, was the Dolphins' best bowler with 3/22 off 3.4 overs.

Prenelan Subrayen (2/17), Ottniel Baartman (2/16) and Andile Phehlukwayo (2/16) all took two wickets apiece.

Scores in brief:

Dolphins 148/5 in 20 overs (K Zondo 59*, B Parsons 28; A Phehlukwayo 25*; G Linde 2/24, A Mgijima 2/25)

WP 83 all out in 15.4 overs (A Mgijima 18; B Parsons 3/22)

NORTH WEST V WARRIORS - North West won by 10 runs

While their chances of qualifying for the knock-out portion of the CSA T20 Challenge, North West ended the tournament on a high note with a 10 run win over the Warriors.

Batting first after winning the toss, North West posted 169/9 with Heino Khun the star, scoring 79 opening the batting.

He was supported by some lusty hitting by Senuran Muthusamy (24* of 11 balls) at the end of the innings while Jon-Jon Smuts was the pick of the bowlers with 1/24 in his four overs.

The Warriors were always slightly behind the run-rate in their chase, with Lesiba Ngoepe (43) top scoring.

While Tristan Stubbs (18) didn't spark with any heroics as he has done before in the tournament, big hitting near the end by Sinethemba Qeshile (24* off 13) and Rudi Second (29 off 14) just wasn't enough to get them over the line as they ended on 159/9.

Scores in brief

North West 169 for 9 in 20 overs (Heino Khun 79)

Warriors 159/9 in 20 overs (Lesiba Ngoepe 43, Lwandiswa Zuma 3/25)

The Dragons struggled throughout in their run-chase and never looked like coming close to their target.

Lesego Senokwane top-scored with 31 off 32 balls, while three Titans bowlers took two wickets apiece - Aaron Phangiso (2/13), Ayabulela Gqamane 2/22 and Dewald Brevis 2/33)

BOLAND ROCKS V KNIGHTS - Knights won by 3 runs

Batting first, the Knights posted 164/6 in their 20 overs, with Christoffel Klijnhans top-scoring with 52.

He was well supported by Jacques Snyman (23), Raynard van Tonder (38) and Patrick Kruger (19*), who blasted two massive sixes in the final over off Ziyaad Abrahams.

Abrahams, however, became the first bowler to take five wickets in an innings at the tournament as he finished with 5/34.

Boland started well with the Malan brothers keeping up with the required run-rate. Janneman Malan fell for 33, but Boland kept on track thanks to a partnership between Pieter Malan and Clyde Fortuin (46).

When Fortuin was dismissed for 46, Boland still needed another 43 at around 9 per over. Pieter Malan (60*) was joined by Christiaan Jonker (17*) but excellent death bowling by Gerald Coetzee and Alfred Mothoa restricted Boland to 161/2 to give the Knights victory by three runs.

Despite the loss, Boland remain in third place on the log and have qualified for the semi-finals.

Malusi Siboto (3/18) and Tshepo Ntuli (3/21) were the pick of the bowlers for the Lions.

It was tough work for the Lions too in their chase but a brilliant 67* from Mitchell van Buuren saw them home by five wickets with five balls to spare.

Alfred Mothoa was the best bowler for the Knights as he picked up 2/20 in his four overs.

Captain Pieter Malan (33) and Clyde Fortuin (27) top-scored, but the next highest score was 15 by Hardus Viljoen and Michael Copeland, respectively.

Eathan Bosch was the pick of the Dolphins bowlers with 3/23 in four overs, while Prenalen Subrayen ended with 2/18.

WARRIORS v LIONS - Warriors won by 5 wickets

Wihan Lubbe's dynamic burst at the top of the order was instrumental in the Warriors a rare win in the CSA T20 Challenge.

The left-hander, playing against his former team-mates, smacked 6 fours and a six in a 30-ball 46 that gave the Eastern Cape side the momentum they needed to overhaul a target of 143.

Importantly, his attacking mindset meant the Warriors weren't derailed when they regularly lost wickets in the first 10 overs.

Lesiba Ngoepe showed his experience in spearheading the second half of the chase.

Earlier, Proteas batter Reeza Hendricks stood out in compiling a classy 61 but the lacked any support.

Scores in brief:

Lions 142/6 in 20 overs (Reeza Hendricks 61, Tsepo Ndwandwa 2/12)

Warriors 144/6 in 15.5 overs (Wihan Lubbe 46, Lesiba Ngoepe 38*, Malusi Siboto 2/21)

NORTH WEST DRAGONS V DOLPHINS - Dolphins win by 7 wickets

Keegan Petersen and David Miller steered the Dolphins to a seven-wicket victory over the North West Dragons in Gqeberha on Friday.

After opting to field first, the Dolphins struck early as the Dragons lost their openers Wesley Marshall (14) and Tahir Isaacs (7) early on.

A 72-run partnership soon occurred between wicketkeeper Nicky van den Bergh and Proteas all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius before Pretorius was trapped on the pads by Eathan Bosch.

Van den Burgh brought up his half-century, scoring 52 off 37 balls (5 fours and two sixes) before a middle-order collapse dented the Dragons momentum.

In the penultimate over, Bosch delivered a stunning bowling display as three wickets fell with a ball apart as Van den Burgh, Senuran Muthusamy (7 - run out) and Ndumiso Mvelase (0) fell.

Bosch ended on three for 20 as the Dragons posted 135/8.

The Dolphins got off to a solid start with openers Grant Roelofsen (19) and Petersen putting up a 60-run stand. Petersen continued his fine form with a 43 off 36 balls (3 fours and a six) before being bowled out by Caleb Seleka (1/16).

WARRIORS V BOLAND - Boland won by 3 wickets

The Rocks have beaten the Warriors by three wickets in a CSA T20 Challenge clash on Thursday in a match that went down to the wire.

The Warriors won the toss and elected to bat with Matthew Breetzke (11) and Wihan Lubbe (35), getting them off to a brisk start.

They lost their way, however, as the Boland spinners, particularly Shaun von Berg (3/26), proved difficult to score off.

When Jon-Jon Smuts (12) fell in the 12th over with the score on 74/4, getting to 120 seemed like a tough task.

Once again, however, the in-form Tristan Stubbs was the hero for the Warriors as he smashed 47 off just 30 balls with three 4s and three 6s.

He showed excellent maturity in taking the time to play himself in and then launching towards the end of the innings with the able assistance of Diego Rosier (31).

That allowed the Warriors to post 156/6, a total that seemed out of reach of Boland, particularly when they lost the Malan brothers, Janneman (0) and Pieter (4), in the first two overs.

Clyde Fortune (27) and Ferisco Adams (27) kept them in with a chance, but they both fell just when they seemed in control.

A 66 run partnership between Michael Copeland (40) and Christiaan Jonker (30) ensured that the run-rate required was kept stable as Boland needed 10 to win in the final over.

That they achieved that thanks to two boundaries from Hardus Viljoen to claim a three-wicket victory.

Scores in brief:

Warrios 156/5 in 20 overs (Tristan Stubbs 47, Wihan Lubbe 35, Shaun von Berg 3/26)

Boland 160/7 in 19.4 overs (Michael Copeland 40, Christiaan Jonker 30, Tsepo Ndwandwa 2/33)

TITANS V LIONS - Titans won by 7 wickets

Opening batsman Theunis de Bruyn scored an unbeaten 63 from 51 balls as the Titans cruised to victory against the Lions at St George's Park.

The Lions had earlier posted a competitive 148/6 thanks to Reeza Hendricks' 44 and a quickfire 33 off 18 balls by Sisanda Magala.

However, the Titans were untroubled in their chase, with Heinrich Klaasen (44 off 33 balls) and Quinton de Kock (22 off 11) also in the runs.

Teenage sensation Dewald Brevis failed this time around as he was dismissed for 7.

Scores in brief:

Lions 148/6 in 20 overs (R Hendricks 44, S Magala 33*; T Shamsi 2/25)

Titans 152/3 in 18.1 overs (T de Bruyn 63*, H Klaasen 44; M Siboto 2/21)

WESTERN PROVINCE V NORTH WEST - WP won by 84 runs

An inspired bowling display by Western Province helped them to further their hold on the top of the CSA T20 Challenge log with an 84-run win over North West at St George's Park.

Batting first, Province reached a credible 164/8 in their 20 overs with opener Jonathan Bird (53 off 44 balls, five 4s and two 6s) leading the way.

He received vital support from veteran keeper, Dane Vilas (31 off 20) and captain Wayne Parnell (33 off 17).

They could have scored closer to 180 but a sublime 18th over by Senuran Muthusamy (4/20) pulled them back.

North West's batsmen have been on form this tournament but they got off to the worst possible start as Muthusamy (0) fell in the first over.

He was quickly followed by Wesley Marshall (15), Nicky van den Bergh (2) and Tahir Issacs (0) with Beuran Hendricks (4/20) the destroyer in chief for Western Province.

Leg-spinner Junaid Dawood (3/22) also got in on the action to ensure that Western Province secured a bonus point.

Scores in brief: Western Province 164/8 (Jonathan Bird 53, Dane Villas 31, Wayne Parnell 33, Senuran Muthusamy 4/20)

North West 80 all out in 17.4 overs (Caleb Seleka 16, Beuran Hendricks 4/20, Junaid Dawood 3/22).

BOLAND ROCKS V LIONS - Rocks won by 44 runs

Captain Pieter Malan scored 71 off 48 balls to set up the Boland Rocks for a comfortable win over the Lions at St George's Park.

Malan, along with Ferisco Adams (30 not out off 20 balls) and Christiaan Jonker (20 off 15 balls), helped Boland to 160/4 off their allotted 20 overs.

The Lions innings never got going as they struggled against spin. Shaun von Borg was Boland's standout bowler with 3/14 in four overs.

Opener Reeza Hendricks (46 off 39 balls) was the best Lions batsman.

Scores in brief:

Boland Rocks 160/4 in 20 overs (P Malan 71, F Adams 30; R Hendricks 1/10)

Lions 116 all out in 17.2 overs (R Hendricks 46; S von Berg 3/14, H. Viljoen 2/15, F Adams 2/17, S Mahima 2/20)

KNIGHTS V WARRIORS - Knights won by 9 wickets

In the second match of the day, the Warriors won the toss and elected to bat first against the Knights.

The Warriors opening batters struggled to secure high scores like we have seen them in this tournament. With Wihan Lubbe dismissed for 24, Matthew Breetzke for 15, and Jon-Jon Smuts for 16, the Warriors were in serious trouble.

A brilliant innings from Tristan Stubbs who smashed 65 off 35 (3 boundaries and 5 sixes), with the support of Lesiba Ngoepe (27), and Diego Rosier (13*), saw the Warriors set a defendable total of 170/5 at the end of 20 overs.

Jacques Snyman recorded 2/23 in 3 overs, claiming both the wickets of Breetzke and Smuts.

A massive opening 156-run stand between debutant Christoffel Klijnhans (67* off 54 with 7 fours and 1 six) and Snyman (90 off 52 with 10 fours and 3 sixes) provided a solid foundation for the Knights as they secured a 9-wicket victory in their first win of the tournament.

The Knights also provided the highest successful run chase thus far in the tournament.

Scores in brief:

Warriors 170/5 in 20 overs (Stubbs 65, Ngoepe 27, Snyman 2/23)

Knights 173/1 in 18.4 overs (Snyman 90, Klijnhans 67*)

TITANS V DOLPHINS - Titans won by 7 wickets

Teenage sensation Dewald Brevis smashed 46 not out off 30 balls as the Titans cruised past the Dolphins in a match reduced to 19 overs a side due to rain.

David Miller's unbeaten 57 off 40 balls had earlier given the Dolphins a lifeline but 134 was never going to be enough.

Brevis, who was sold for R6 million to Mumbai Indians in the IPL auction over the weekend, saw the Titans home with 15 balls to spare.

Scores in brief:

Dolphins 134/4 in 19 overs (D Miller 57*, J Smith 38; J Dala 2/27)

Titans 137/3 in 16.3 overs (D Brevis 46*, Q de Kock 26; T Ntini 2/21)

BOLAND V NORTH WEST - Boland won after Super Over

In the second match of the day, the Gbets Rocks won the toss and elected to bat first against the North West Dragons.

A captain’s knock from Pieter Malan (53 off 46 with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes) supported by Janneman Malan (33 off 18 with 5 boundaries and 1 six) and Christiaan Jonker (37 off 19 with 2 boundaries and 3 sixes) saw the Gbets Rocks set a respectable target as they ended their innings on 182/6.

A great bowling display from Dragons youngster, Caleb Seleka who recorded 2/20 in his 4 overs.

The North West Dragons were put to test, with the dismissal of Senuran Muthusamy with only 3 runs, Wesley Marshall with 34 runs (4 boundaries and 2 sixes), and Nicky van den Bergh with 28 (3 boundaries and 1 six), the Dragons were under immense pressure.

An unbeaten 74 from 51 balls (3 boundaries and 5 sixes) from Dwaine Pretorius and Delano Potgieter’s (37* off 27 with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes) restored the Dragons innings and levelled the scores at the end of 20 overs, taking the game to the first super over of the tournament.

The Rocks kept their nerves to secure a win in the Super Over, claiming their first victory in the tournament.

Scores in brief:

Boland 182/6 after 20 overs (P Malan 53, Jonker 37*, J Malan 33, Seleka 2/20)

LIONS v WESTERN PROVINCE - Western Province win by 5 wickets

Western Province made it three wins on the trot when they beat the Lions by 5 wickets in their CSA T20 Challenge clash at St George's Park on Sunday.

Set 141 to win, Province were without two stars in Richard Levi and George Linde.

Although they lost Jonathan Bird (8) early, Gavin Kaplan (39) accelerated his innings nicely after initially struggling to find his feet.

Tony de Zorzi (42) also batted well above the required run rate, but when Kaplan and Dane Vilas (8) fell in in quick succession, the Lions began to apply a little more pressure.

De Zorzi and Yaseen Vallie then put on 22 for the fifth wicket, leaving Province needing 28 to win in 28 balls.

However, De Zorzi threw his wicket away, and captain Wayne Parnell (0) ran himself out, and suddenly, at 113/5 after 16.1 overs, Province were in for an uphill battle.

However, Vallie (21*) and Aviwe Mgijima (16*) kept their cool to guide their side home.

Earlier, the Lions' innings saw Mitchell van Buuren (44) top score with support from Kagiso Rapulana (32) and Shane Dadswell (27).

For Province, the pick of the bowlers was impressive young leg-spinner Junaid Dawood (2/23) and Beuran Hendricks (2/26).

Scores in brief:

Lions 140/5 after 20 overs: Mitchell van Buuren 44, Kagiso Rapulana 32, Shane Dadswell 27, Junaid Dawood (2/23)

DOLPHINS v WARRIORS - Dolphins won by 20 runs

A late David Miller assault and an excellent early bowling effort nearly lulled the Dolphins into thinking of an easy win against the hosts, but Tristan Stubbs gave the Dolphins heart palpitations with an electrifying innings.

Miller's 58 off 26 balls back up Grant Roelofsen's 50 off 30 as the visitors racked up 211/5 in their 20 overs. There were decent contributions from Andile Phehlukwayo (28* off 16), Bryce Parsons (39 off 31) and Khaya Zondo (19 off 12) buttressed the strong total.

Only JJ Smuts (1/22) covered himself with any sort of glory as the Warriors bowlers were hit to all corners of St George's Park.

Outside of Smuts's 47 off 31, the Warriors batting didn't rock up, falling to 86/5. However, that's where Stubbs's rollicking innings started, with his unbeaten 80 coming off 31 balls with three fours and eight sixes.

The win saw the Dolphins move to third while the Warriors stayed at six, just ahead of the Paarl Rocks and the Knights.

Scores in brief:

Dolphins 211/5 in 20 overs (Grant Roelofsen 50, David Miller 58; JJ Smuts 1/22)

Warriors 191/6 in 20 overs (Tristan Stubbs 80*, JJ Smuts 47; Jason Smith 3/24)
