Proteas fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has been ruled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) as he continues to recover from a lower back injury.
Ngidi's IPL team, the Delhi Capitals, confirmed his release from the tournament. He has been replaced by Australian all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk .

Ngidi, 27, sustained the injury during last month's SA20 playoffs where he played for the Paarl Royals.
Ngidi is currently being monitored by the Cricket South Africa (CSA) medical team and undergoing rehabilitation with his provincial team, the Titans.
CSA said in a statement that he is expected to return to play in the second half of the ongoing CSA T20 Challenge in April.
The 2024 IPL runs from 22 March to 26 May.
