SuperSport confirm Nkhatha, Tefu exit

Cape Town - SuperSport United CEO Stanley Matthews has confirmed the departure of veteran campaigners Kingston Nkhatha and Tefu Mashamaite.

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bidvest Wits defender Mashamaite, 33, joined the Tshwane side in 2016, but made only four league appearances in the recently-completed season.

The 32-year-old Nkhatha, also an Amakhosi old boy, arrived at SuperSport in 2015. However, after having played 15 league games in 2017/18, he failed to find the net.

"Kingston and Masha are leaving the club. We didn't renew their contracts," Matthews was quoted saying by IOL.

The Matsatsantsa boss also gave an update on other team news from the SuperSport camp:

"Yeye (Reneilwe Letsholonyane) and Morgan (Gould) are staying. Denwin Farmer is joining Maritzburg United on a permanent deal.”

"James Keene has also joined us. We wanted to sign him in January but Jose Ferriera (Wits CEO) said no. We lost Jeremy (Brockie who joined Mamelodi Sundowns) and Bradley (Grobler who was ruled out of the season with an injury).

"Jose asked us to do the deal at the end of the season when they are in a better position. He is my friend and former colleague, so I respected that," he added.

Matthews also ruled out a move for Bafana Bafana midfielder Andile Jali.

"I don't think there's a club who wouldn't want to sign Jali. He is fantastic footballer. Yes, I did call his agent (Mike Makaab) to inquire about his situation, but we can't afford him. His demands are too steep for us," Matthews explained.
