Polokwane eager to hand Wits second defeat of new campaign

Cape Town - Polokwane City will hope to maintain their perfect start to the Absa Premiership season when they host Bidvest Wits at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.

Rise and Shine have been impressive in their opening two encounters in the new season, beating Black Leopards and AmaZulu, with both matches ending in 1-0 margins.

Forward Mohammed Anas was the hero on Saturday as he grabbed a late winner in the victory over Usuthu.

Polokwane's new head coach Zlatko Krmpotic must be delighted with his charges and will hope he can guide his team to another positive result against a tough opponent who came third in the league last season.

Wits have had a mixed start to their new campaign having won one and lost one in their two games.

After beating AmaZulu 3-0 in their Premiership opener, Gavin Hunt's team were humbled 1-0 on their own patch by Baroka FC last week and will look to get back on track.

The match will kick off at 19:30 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
