Pitso short on staff as Sundowns release assistant coach

Cape Town – Mamelodi Sundowns assistant coach Manqoba Mnqithi has been allowed a few days off to spend time with his family, the club confirmed.

“Coach Manqoba has had a family bereavement and has been allowed a few days off with his family,” the club said in Twitter post on Monday morning.

“He has the full support of the Technical team, players, management, Board and the Club President. We wish him and his family all the strength during these trying times."

Meanwhile, head coach Pitso Mosimane will undoubtedly be happy with his side's performance over the weekend as the Tshwane outfit thumped KwaZulu-Natal side AmaZulu 5-0 to advance to the Telkom Knockout quarter-final.

Sundowns will now shift their focus to the Absa Premiership as they welcome Highlands Park to Loftus Versfeld.

A victory would see the current champions move closer to the summit of the log table and shift from third to second place.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday.
