Phalane: Celtic can stop Chiefs in their tracks

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Lantshene Phalane is confident that they can surprise Kaizer Chiefs when the two sides clash early next month.

Amakhosi have opened up a considerable gap over the rest of the field in the race for the Absa Premiership silverware, enjyoing a 10-point lead over second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, but Phalane sees an opportunity.

The 29-year-old reckons Phunya Sele Sele have the ability to shock Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium on December 7 and show the rest of the league how to stop the Soweto giants.

"Chiefs have stretched the gap and are on the right track towards winning the title," Phalane told the Daily Sun.

"But they can come down. We can stop this moving train and show other teams that they can also beat them.

"I know that a lot of teams show them too much respect on the pitch, and this has to stop."

Celtic are unbeaten in their last three league games and have moved into seventh position in the standings with a game in hand over sixth-placed Highlands Park.
