coach Cavin Johnson says his team did not deserve to come away with
nothing from Sunday's 2-1 Absa Premiership defeat to Orlando Pirates at the
King Zwelithini Stadium.
The defeat to the title-chasing Sea Robbers means Usuthu could struggle in their attempts to finish in the top eight this season. Currently, the outfit from Durban are in 11th position with a two-point deficit to make up on Chippa United and Bloemfontein Celtic in seventh and eighth respectively.
In the match against Bucs, an early strike from Mabhuti Khenyeza was cancelled out by Musa Nyatama before Thabo Qalinge got a later winner.
Speaking to SuperSport after the game, Johnson said: "I thought we had the better chances in the first half. I thought we played good football.
"Overall, it was a good game of football for the 9000 people that attended. I think they saw one of the better games of the season.
"One is looking to win the league, the other is looking for points into the top eight and I thought we both gave a good account of ourselves. It was unlucky for us today to go and lose this. But we can take a lot out of this game into the last three games.
"Had it gone 1-0 at halftime, the second half would've been different because they would've thrown people at us and we knew how they were going to play. So we needed to close the lines.
"I thought in the second half there were periods where we never crossed the lines correctly that's why we brought on Michael Morton to give us better lines going forward. But happy with the boys, they put in a good shift. But not happy we didn’t get anything out of the game."
