Brockie on move to Maritzburg: 'Motsepe played a big role'

Cape Town - New Zealand international Jeremy Brockie has revealed that Mamelodi Sundowns owner Patrice Motsepe played an integral part in making the Maritzburg United move happen.

The 31-year-old spent most of his time at the Tshwane club warming the bench and was eager to get some minutes under his belt.

On the transfer window deadline day, Maritzburg surprised the football fraternity in announcing the lucrative signing of Brockie on a season-long loan.

"Yeah, it’s very exciting to be here. It’s not a secret that it been a long 10 months on the side-lines at Sundowns, always having a smile on my face, going through good and tough times,” Brockie said as quoted by KickOff.

“But now the smile is a lot bigger because I'm going to be playing some consistent football.

“Just getting back doing what I love, I'm grateful for the opportunity to come to Maritzburg United.

“The president of Sundowns Mr Patrice Motsepe played a big role in letting me get out on loan. I can't thank him enough."

Maritzburg will soon return to action on Saturday, September 21 when they travel to the Lucas Moripe Stadium against Sundowns.
