Baroka to test managerless Polokwane

Cape Town - Managerless Polokwane City will be looking to improve their league standing when they host Baroka FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:30.

Zlatko Krmpotic was sacked on Friday, which has left Rise and Shine slightly in the lurch for the Limpopo derby. Polokwane are on a five-match losing streak, having started the season so well.

The final straw for the Rise and Shine hierarchy came with the 5-3 defeat to Cape Town City in their previous fixture, which led to Krmpotic losing his job.

So successful was the start to the season that Polokwane still find themselves in eighth position despite having lost their last four league fixtures on the bounce.

Meanwhile, Baroka are desperate for a win as they sit second from bottom. The 0-0 draw with Mamelodi Sundowns at home on Wednesday will have given Wedson Nyirenda's plenty of confidence heading into this clash.

It ended a five-match winless streak in all competitions for Bakgaga and gives the under-pressure Nyirenda more time to salvage the season.

Nyirenda's side have managed to find the back of the net only six times in ten games and the Zambian tactician believes it is not due to a lack of chances created.

"It gets frustrating sometimes when we fail to convert our chances. Our league position is not very complimentary at the moment," he said.

Rise and Shine won both meetings between the sides last season.
