Full-time here at the St-Jakob Stadium as City have cruised to a 4-0 lead with four away goals as Gundogan (2), Aguero and Bernardo scored as the English side pretty much sealed their route to the quarter finals.
YELLOW! It's all kicking off! Gundogan reacts angrily after a challenge from Serey Die in midfield, and both players have to be restrained before coming to blows. The referee is having none of it and issues a yellow to both players.
Third and final change for City as Aguero makes way for Danilo. Basel make their second change as Elyounoussi departs for Bua.
CLOSE! Back some City on another attack as Walker races clear on the overlap, but his cut-back is cut out by Vaclik just before it reaches Aguero in the six-yard box.
Gundogan slots Aguero in behind the Basel defence but a combination of Vaclik and Lacroix prevent the Argentine from doubling his tally.
Fernandinho wins the ball back deep in Basel territory and finds Sane on the left in space. He then dances inside three defenders before seeing a crisp strike blocked before it finds the target.
CLOSE! Basel survive by the skin of their teeth as Frei prevents Sane from squaring to Aguero and Bernardo at the end of the fluid counter attack.
City press and probe for a way through the Basel defence, with David Silva pulling the strings in midfield.
SAVE! He's had a terrible night in between the sticks but Basel stopper Vaclik has produced a wonder save to prevent Gundogan from converting Aguero's cut-back to seal his hat-trick. it looked a certain goal but the Czech throws himself across his line to
Sane receives the ball on the left and tries to fashion a yard of space to get a shot away, but Xhaka does well to break up the attack.
SAVE! Ederson called into action for the second time in as many minutes as Oberlin's dipping free-kick from almost 30 yards draws the City stopper into action.
CHANCE! Elyounoussi drifts inside Delph and unleashes a fierce drive on target but it's straight down the throat of Ederson to palms it away.
CHANCE! Stocker floats a delightful ball to the back post where Oberlin is unmarked. But, with the goal gaping, he heads wide at the near post when an effort back across goal look the better option.
CHANCE! Walker gets the to byline, cuts the ball back for Aguero who lays it into the path of David Silva, but the substitute scoops an effort over the bar.
Gundogan carries the ball forward with intent into the final third but he just falls short with his final pass, swiping at thin air Basel clear.
Second change for City as De Bruyne makes way for David Silva, who also makes his return.
Stocker floats an enticing ball up to Oberlin on the edge of the City area but Kompany is on hand to turn the ball away with a well-time interception.

Walker carries the ball forward down the right flank, all the way into the Basel area as the hosts stand off him. He tries to find Aguero in the area but Suchy gets a boot in and clears.
First change for City as Sterling makes way for Sane - who returns from a ligament injury five weeks ahead of schedule.
CHANCE! Oberlin evades the City offside trap to race through on goal, but he's unable to find the target from a tight angle as his effort flashes across the face of goal.
GOAL! Sensational from Ilkay Gundogan! As the German picks up the ball from Aguero on the edge of the area, drifts inside a defenders and nonchalantly curls a sublime effort into the top corner.
CHANCE! Sterling races in behind the Basel defence but the long ball over the top takes an age to settle, allowing the hosts to get back and cut out the danger.
SAVE! Elyounoussi spins away from Fernandinho in midfield and unleashes a swerving effort which looks set to find the far corner, but Ederson - who hasn't had much to do tonight - is alert and tips it behind for a corner.
SAVE! Gundogan feeds the ball into the path of De Bruyne and he goes for the strike at goal, only to fire his effort straight at Vaclik.
KICK-OFF! With both teams as they were before the break, City get the second half underway! Is there any way back for Basel in this tie?
Half time here at the St-Jakob Park as the visitors have steamrolled the hosts as three goals in quick succession from the visitors have shaken up the home side. Aguero, Gundogan and Bernardo score for the English side.
Serey Die lunges into a tackle on De Bruyne in midfield. He wins the ball but both feet are off the ground, and he receives a talking to from the Swedish referee.
Aguero tries to latch onto a long ball in behind Lacroix but the Basel centre-back shows great pace to cut out the danger with the Argentine lurking.
YELLOW! Xhaka picks up a booking for what can only be described as getting a piggyback off Sterling without his permission!
CLOSE! So nearly a fourth for City as Delph cuts a superb ball back from the left for De Bruyne on the edge of the area, but the Belgian's first-time, left-footed effort nestles on the roof of the Basel goal.
Gundogan floats a ball over the Basel defence for Bernardo to chase but there's just too much on the delivery for the Portuguese to gather as Basel escape unscathed.
CLOSE! Sterling is played through into space in the area but Vaclik races off his line to thwart the City forward, getting two hands on the ball before tipping it behind for a corner, which comes to nothing.
The pressure City are putting on the Basel defence is relentless and it's only a matter of time before the visitors further extend their lead, with a fortunate deflection preventing Gundogan from releasing Sterling through on goal.
Frei carries the ball forward before spraying a diagonal out to Riveros on the left, but the Basel attack is cut short by the offside flag going up on the far side.
Good play from City once more as Gundogan and De Bruyne link up in the final third, but Suchy gets across just in time to stop the German from firing at goal.
Guardiola could not have dreamed for a better start to the tie than this. His side can almost coast through the quarter-finals given the huge advantage provided to them by three away goals.
GOAL! Aguero picks up a loose ball following a challenge from Fernadinho on the edge of the box and drills a powerful strike into the bottom corner. It was a decent effort, although Vaclik did not help his side's cause by not moving.
Man City two to the good in a matter of minutes as Bernardo Silva gets on the end of a deflected Sterling cross. He takes a touch to control before lashing a volley towards goal which Vaclik flaps at as it nestles in the top corner.
CHANCE! Basel almost strike back immediately as a long ball causes havoc in the City defence. It falls for Stocker on the edge of the area but Ederson is quick off his line again to thwart the midfielder's effort.
GOAL! Manchester City take the lead in emphatic style as Ilkay Gundogan steals a march on his marker to send a powerful near-post header beyond the stationary Vaclik, incredible delivery from De Bruyne.
Penalty shouts as Basel move forward once again, Oberlin drives into the City area and looks to be barged over by Otamendi, but the referee thinks otherwise and shakes his head to the penalty appeals.
Bernardo cuts in from the right onto his left foot and whips an enticing cross into the area which Lacroix, who is making his Champions League debut, heads clear.
CHANCE! Basel have been on the back foot but they've just created a glorious chance to take the lead. A long ball up field sees Oberlin race in behind Kompany and Otamendi but, with Ederson racing off his line, the Basel striker shanks an effort wide!
Guardiola's men are putting their foot on the ball to establish their possession game. However, Basel seem quite content to sit deep and use the pace of Oberlin on the break.
City looking incredibly slick in the opening exchanges as De Bruyne, and Bernardo combine to release Sterling in behind the Basel defence, but the offside flag comes to the hosts' rescue.
CHANCE! City unpick the Basel defence with their first purposeful move as Bernardo's delicate cross finds Gundogan in the area, and his header draw a fine save from Vaclik. So nearly the perfect start for the visitors.
Positive start for Basel as they lump the ball forward from the kick-off and Stocker gathers and drives at the City defence. He gets all the way up to the edge of the area where he is dispossessed by Fernandinho.

Oberlin leads the line from the start once again after netting after the weekend. The hosts have opted to not start with two forwards even though Bua scored on the weekend, as he looks to once again make an impact from the bench.
The big team news this evening sees Vincent Kompany come back into the fold as he starts with Laporte dropping to the bench. Zinchenko goes out of the squad altogether with Delph coming in his place and Aguero leads the line once again after netting four.
