A long-range shot from Sudan at the end of that passage of play goes well wide of the target. South Africa's lead has rarely been under real threat.
CHANCE! Erasmus muscles his way free of his marker and pulls the trigger, but Aboeshren denies his effort, sticking out his right foot to make the save!
Sudan have a chance from a corner on their left, but as the ball comes into the box, the referee awards South Africa a free-kick.
The substitution was delayed for some time after being announced, but Grobler is now on in place of Serero.
Molefi Ntseki makes his third substitution as Grobler replaces Serero. That's a target man on for an enterprising midfielder.
Another substitution for Bafana Bafana: Erasmus comes on to replace Mothiba, who hasn't had his finest day upfront.
One Lebo replaces another as Manyama comes on for goalscorer Phiri. The latter had a superb game, but the former is in red hot form for Kaizer Chiefs.
A delightful long ball leads to a Sudan header at goal, which is saved by Williams. The flag goes up for offside, but the replay suggests that was an incorrect call.
Tau cuts inside from the left and darts through the defence, looking to play the one-two off Phiri. However, the latter's return ball is cut out.
Sudan make yet another substitution as Nazar Nassir replaces Mohamed Mahamoud.
Morena crosses from the right after another marauding run, but once again, he hits the ball too close to the goalkeeper, who collects.
Yasir Mohamed replaces Ahmad Mahmoud for Sudan.
South Africa hit Sudan on the break, but a brilliant sliding tackle from Elyas takes the ball off Phiri. Sudan need to be careful of leaving themselves exposed as they commit bodies forward in search of a goal.
Morena charges down the right and plays a low ball towards Mothiba, but goalkeeper Aboeshren gets down and gathers before the striker can meet the cross.
Sudan are applying far more pressure in the second half than they did in the first. Victory is not yet a certainty for Bafana Bafana.
Furman looks to release Phiri inside the box and set up a chance for Bafana, but Sudan manage to take the ball off the Guingamp midfielder.
Chance for Sudan as Mathoho is dispossessed, but the shot is fired across the face of goal and wide. A little warning for Bafana there though.
Buoyed by his earlier goal, Phiri strikes from long range. This shot goes straight down the goalkeeper's throat.
Abdalla has replaced Abdelrahman for Sudan, who have half a chance here with a shot from range... well over the target.
Serero looks to play a one-two off Furman with Bafana on the attack, but the return ball from the SuperSport United midfielder is intercepted.
KICK-OFF! The second half is underway with Bafana Bafana kicking off. They're defending a 1-0 lead at Orlando Stadium earned through Lebogang Phiri's strike.
GOAL, SOUTH AFRICA, PHIRI! 1-0: At last, Bafana break the deadlock! Sudan fail to clear Serero's ball in from the left. Phiri is there to pounce and his thunderous strike from inside the box rattles the net!
HALF-TIME: SOUTH AFRICA 1-0 SUDAN. The referee blows the half-time whistle without any stoppage time. Bafana have dominated the game, but their reward only came through Phiri's goal on the stroke of half-time. All is still to play for at Orlando Stadium.
Furman goes for goal, but it's a wayward strike which rises way over the bar. South Africa's frustration is evident.
Tau's delivery from the corner is a dangerous one, but it's headed away safely by Sudan.
Sudan look to catch Bafana on the counter, but the long ball aimed towards Hamid goes out for a South Africa throw-in.
Lovely work from Tau as he sets Phiri up for the shot, but the midfielder's effort is blocked behind for a corner.
A lengthy spell on the ball for Bafana and a nice bit of skill from Hlanti get the crowd hyped up, but play is eventually stopped due to offside.
Morena looks to break free on Bafana's right, but he runs the ball out of play again.
Sudan go for the long-range shot at goal, but they fail to hit the target.
South Africa's passing needs some work. It was poor against Ghana, and once again, key passes are going astray and costing them dearly.
A poor pass from Mokotjo is intercepted and another spell of South African pressure goes to waste.
Tau goes for goal himself now from some distance out, but he pulls the shot wide. That was South Africa's ninth shot, whereas Sudan have had just one.
Sudan hit South Africa on the break, but the shot at goal at the end of it is a tame one and an easy save for Williams. Bafana counter themselves. Mothiba is unable to bury the chance once again, but Tau tees Mokotjo up. His long-range shot is saved!
A cynical foul on Tau sees Mahamoud yellow-carded.
Stat: So far, South Africa have had 58% of the early possession and seven shots at goal.
South Africa continue to heap pressure on Sudan, but the visitors are handling everything thrown at them for the time being.
CHANCE! Tau's wonderful low cross from the left finds Mothiba, but he fails to bury the ball in the back of the net from right in front! That really should have been the opener. Bafana have a corner, so the goalkeeper probably got a touch.
CLOSE! Tau's run puts Bafana on the attack. The ball is worked to Serero, who unleashes a powerful shot from just outside the box. He fires over the target though.
Mothiba meets a corner aimed in from South Africa's left at the far post, but his header is saved comfortably by the goalkeeper.
Yet again, Morena bombs down the right, but Serero's pass to him is overhit as the Al-Jazira man looks to play the return ball.
Morena is unable to keep a long ball aimed towards him in play before it trickles beyond the byline. Bafana Bafana have dominated the opening minutes, but they must capitalise. They tend to struggle to kill so-called lesser teams off.
Sudan look to hit Bafana Bafana on the counter, but Mathoho is there to dispossess their attacking player just as he gets on the end of the long ball.
ANOTHER CHANCE! Serero meets a cross from the right at the near post, but his close-range effort is saved by the goalkeeper!
CHANCE! Bafana Bafana attack down the left and Phiri backheels into the danger area. Mothiba misses it, but Morena is there. However, he fires wide of target.
KICK-OFF! Sudan get the match underway at Orlando Stadium. There are plenty of empty seats, which is less than ideal for Bafana. Hopefully for the home side, if they do their talking on the pitch, the stands off it will fill up.

Sudan began Afcon 2021 qualifying with a 4-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe. Bafana, meanwhile, lost 2-0 to Ghana. This is a crucial match in the battle for the top two spots.
